Violin Lessons with Kavita Shankar
Kavita Shankar is a graduate from Boston University with a Masters in Violin Performance. She attended Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music, where she was one of the founders of the Sun Quartet. With this chamber group she performed extensively throughout the United States. Kavita also has extensive orchestral experience and is a member of many distinguished orchestras, including several here in Massachusetts.
Not only is Kavita a Western Classical musician, but she also has a background in South Indian Carnatic music. She studied violin with her father and voice with Vijayalakshmi Subramaniam, and has performed around the world, most notably in Kanchipuram Temple. Apart from being a performer, Kavita also loves to teach music. She currently teaches at Sharon Music Academy in Massachusetts and City Strings and Piano, where she teaches Western Classical violin and viola, and Carnatic voice and violin.
