Cello & Piano Lessons with Lexine F.
Passionate about connecting with audiences and students through music, Lexine Feng is a Taiwanese-American cellist and teaching artist based in Boston, MA. She has won top prizes in many competitions, performing as a soloist with ensembles including the Georgia Philharmonic, Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, and DeKalb Symphony Orchestra. She has enjoyed concert appearances as a solo and collaborative performer across the United States in venues such as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, The Appel Room at Lincoln Center, Atlanta Symphony Hall, Spivey Hall, and Jordan Hall at New England Conservatory.
An avid chamber musician and collaborator, Lexine has performed with renowned musicians including Philip Setzer, Paul Watkins, Hsin-Yun Huang, and Sara Sant'Ambrogio, and she has worked with outstanding mentors including Vivian Hornik Weilerstein, Max Levinson, Pei-Shan Lee, Merry Peckham, and the Borromeo String Quartet. She has been featured as a collaborative artist at the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival, the Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the Highlands-Cashiers Chamber Music Festival. Most recently, Lexine performed with the conductorless New England Conservatory Chamber Orchestra, one of the conservatory’s top ensembles, during the 2024-2025 season.
As a devoted teaching artist, Lexine maintains an active private studio and instructs students of all ages and backgrounds, virtually and in-person in Boston, MA. Her love for pedagogy has brought her to teach in a variety of settings: working with K-6th cello students as a Teaching Fellow at the Conservatory Lab Charter School and Boston Music Project, coaching chamber music at New England Conservatory’s Preparatory School, and tutoring and lecturing undergraduate students as a Teaching Assistant in New England Conservatory’s Music Theory Department.
As a community-minded performer, Lexine is enthusiastic about making classical music more accessible and known to all by performing in non-traditional spaces and engaging with audiences that may be unfamiliar with the genre. She is often organizing and performing in outreach concerts at museums, hospitals, food banks, homeless shelters, libraries, and other community hubs in major cities around the country. As the founder of Musical Conversations, she partnered with Hebrew Senior Life to create an ongoing concert series dedicated to sparking dialogue and appreciation for music across generations, performing and facilitating programs designed to connect seniors with middle and high school students.
Lexine completed her bachelor’s degree at the New England Conservatory under the tutelage of Laurence Lesser, graduating with academic honors and a concentration in Teaching Artistry and Music Education. She is currently pursuing her graduate studies at NEC with Yeesun Kim.
