Piano Lessons with Alexander W.
Alexander is a pianist, teacher, composer, electronic producer, improviser, and programmer based in Baltimore, MD. He received his master’s degree in Composition from Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, and he received his bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music in Composition and Electronic Production and Design. A classical and jazz pianist of 20 years, he received the Piano Performance Award at Berklee and worked as a staff pianist for various ensembles, including jazz big bands and classical chamber groups. In 2023, he was chosen for a weeklong solo piano residency at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. As a teacher, tutor, and mentor, he has worked closely with students from all age groups. Last year, he had the opportunity to participate in Junior Bach, an outreach program connecting conservatory students with middle and high schoolers in Baltimore. He gave weekly composition lessons that culminated in a concert of original student works. Guiding students from having no prior music knowledge to composing their own music was a particularly rewarding experience that affirmed his commitment to music education.
