Piano Lessons with Jonathan Z
Jonathan, a multi-instrumentalist from Crofton, Maryland, is a versatile musician proficient in piano, drum set, and percussion across diverse genres such as classical, jazz, rock, funk, R&B, blues, and fusion. Influenced by legends like Elvin Jones, Buddy Rich, and Chick Corea, Jonathan began studying classical piano at age 6 and later embraced jazz in high school.
At 15, he received his first drum set, sparking a passion that became his primary focus. Despite a temporary loss of motivation after high school, Jonathan found inspiration in his basement, learning to take risks and embrace failure as part of the journey. Currently studying music performance at Shepherd University, he aspires to achieve a distinct vision for his future.
Jonathan has contributed to various ensembles, including big bands, jazz combos, wind ensembles, percussion ensembles, marching bands, and rock bands. Under the guidance of instructors like Mike Gambone and Janet Ambrose, he explored different musical palettes and even learned to play Church hymns for Mass.
Performance highlights include venues like local churches, high school and college stages, Disney World, sports stadiums, and jazz festivals. Notably, he played piano in a paid gig at a Catholic Church Mass. Beyond music, Jonathan enjoys baking, outdoor walks, tabletop RPGs, and spending time with friends.
His career aspirations in music stem from early exposure, record listening, and the exhilaration of live performances, where he thrives on band collaboration and audience connection.
