Violin & Piano Lessons with Linnea G.
Linnea Geenen is a 21-year-old violinist and a senior in college at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theater, and Dance. She began playing the violin at age two with her mother, Siri Geenen, a Suzuki violin teacher, and continued her studies with Amy Appold from ages 11 to 18. She now studies with Professor David Halen, the concertmaster of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra. Linnea has attended various summer music festivals, including Interlochen Art Camp in 2019, where she was a member of the World Youth Symphony Orchestra, Center Stage Strings in 2021, and Domaine Forget International Music Festival in 2023. In 2024, she was selected as one of the fellows in the National Orchestral Institute-Festival. She has also played with various orchestras in Michigan, including the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, and the Adrian Symphony Orchestra. Linnea also frequently performs with the Missouri Symphony Orchestra during its summer season and various winter concerts. Linnea has participated in various competitions, including the Missouri Music Teachers Association (MMTA) state competition, where she received first place in the 2017 7th through 9th grade division. She has also participated in the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) state-level competition, where she received an honorable mention in the 2018 7th through 9th grade division. Linnea was a member of the 2020 Missouri All-State orchestra and also played in a chamber ensemble through the Columbia Music School under the direction of Scott Yoo. When she is not playing the violin, Linnea enjoys dancing ballet, knitting, creating art, and finding new ways to exercise and stay active.
