Violin & Viola Lessons with Andy Hernandez

Andy Hernandez started his violin journey at the age of 6 under the Suzuki Strings method, quickly becoming a lifelong passion.

Originally from Hurst, Texas, Andy received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Austin College. Dedicated to the musical arts, Andres has performed in a wide variety of musical settings. During his time in Texas, Andy played as a first violinist in the Sherman Symphony Orchestra. Andy also collaborated with the Austin College "Generations" Quartet, winning second prize in the International "Best Beethoven" recording contest in 2020. Outside of playing classical music, Andy comes from an involved mariachi family. In addition to playing with classical ensembles, he worked with several mariachi bands in Texas, including the Mariachi AlteƱo and Mariachi Mexicanisimo. Currently located in the southern Denver area, Andy is a member of the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra.

Having studied violin under the Suzuki String Method, Andy is a strong believer of instilling aural skills and a love of music early. Prioritizing aural skills from an early age sets up students for long term success as musicians. It also provides a solid foundation for students to focus on developing proper body posture and hand mechanics in both the left and right hands. Above all, a love of music is essential for students to succeed as violinists; music should be enjoyed by both the listener and the performer.
