Piano Lessons with Alishan G.
Alishan G. is a Portland-based pianist and teacher originally from Atlanta, Georgia. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in music from Rice University and his Master’s degree from the Yale School of Music, where he received a full tuition scholarship and studied with Chris Theofanidis and David Lang. His musical ventures include appearances at the Oregon Bach Festival, Yellow Barn, and the highScore Festival in Pavia, Italy, as well as residencies at Avaloch Music Institute and Burapha University in Thailand.
As an educator, Alishan brings over five years of experience teaching piano to children and adults across a wide range of skill levels. In addition to private piano instruction, he has led group songwriting workshops and tutored students in music theory and composition. His teaching emphasizes each student’s innate creativity alongside a strong foundation in technique, expressivity, and playfulness—fostering curiosity and confidence at every stage of learning.
