Alexander Reyes, Piano

Alexander Reyes is a pianist and composer from eastern Pennsylvania who recently relocated to Chicago. In 2019, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Kutztown University, where he studied piano, composition, and audio engineering. He has a background in a variety of styles, including classical, jazz, and popular music. He began his musical journey as a self taught drummer, guitarist, and bassist, prior to making the piano his primary instrument. While growing up in Pennsylvania Alexander was involved in local alternative bands, and then shifted focus to performing as a classical pianist and chamber musician in college. He believes that teaching music should focus equally on technique and creativity, allowing students to explore their own interests while forming a strong traditional foundation on the instrument.
